Textual points: page 49: the illustration is 2 7/8" below the text. The text illustrations are printed in the following color sequence: green (introduction page through page 79) orange (82 through 96) green (97 through 144 ) yellow (145 through 175) green (177 through 222) brown ( 225 through 239 ) orange ( 243 through 261) On page 167, line 9 the words "yellow daisies" of the Hill printings have become "bright daisies", and on page 168, lines 2 and 11, the words "yellow flowers" and "yellow fields" have become "scarlet flowers" and "scarlet fields". Inserted pictorial endpapers are in green and orange. Color plates: 16 bound-in, not tipped-in, and are in very good shape, Illustrations at pg 114, 170 and 184 show age spots at page edges but not into the illustration. There is a 1/2" tear at page 15 and the illustrated page 138. There is no type damage on page 169. The type on page 169 is the same as the rest of the book. The type for the List of Chapters on page 7 is not damaged. The cover and spine shows the book title shortened to "THe Wizard of OZ" The crow eye is yellow. The Tin Woodman is in black and on the rear cover. The period after Baum's name on the spine is present and the title is in serifed type. Thickness of the book is 9 3/16" Size of the leaf 9 1/16"H x 6 7/8"W. There are 3 copyright statements with the printers name at the bottom of the copyright page. Wear at the spine ends and tips. the book is slightly cocked. There are age marks and a few finger prints throughout the book. The edges are spotted. The book is solid. Reprint About 1920 Hardcover Very Good Olive Green cloth HC binding. 16 color plates (blue lettering in captions.) Black and white decorated end papers. Black lettering on the spine with the Reilly & Lee in caps and lower case letters. Reilly & Lee also on the title page. Cover color illustration has a yellow background. There is no half title page or verso of the half title bearing advertisments. The last page is 256 and bears no picture of Ozma. Inside is extremely bright and unmarked. On the "this book belongs to " page (children and rabbit reading a book) is: "Laura Alice Chatterton July 21, '26 8 yrs." On the verso of the frontice is also a book plate of Laura Chatterton. Previous owner's bookplate on fep. Outside very slightly cocked and shows some light wear to tips and spine ends. The illustration is not rubbed or badly soiled but shows a square of white where the top layer of paper is missing. No doubt this is price tag removal damage. VERY GOOD; 973 Price: 153.56 USD
